For three days, Australian women have spent the Christmas day at churches and other venues to seek a spiritual message of hope and reconciliation after being barred from attending Obama's swearing-in ceremony on Saturday.

But the President's wife, Michelle Obama, will sit down for her husband with more than two dozen other women and pray daily in a public church of churches across Australia to offer prayers from home.

The ceremony for the first ever prayer service started with a wreath-laying as Obama bowed before his wife Michelle for a private address, but became a little quieter as the President began speaking with her at 2:30 pm.
