The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People also organized a "Day of Rage" against the state of Alabama at its annual meeting, and several organizations affiliated with it issued a report in recent days expressing their concerns that the state is not doing enough to prevent racial tensions within its community.

In a statement to The Post, Jim Bower, the U.S. assistant secretary of state at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, said he had been "in contact with" the Alabama NAACP and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People but that they were unaware that the group had ever been affiliated with any of the groups in its list of participants.

The NAACP has an office in Huntsville and is the local NAACP chapter that runs its chapters. It does not have a connection to any of its various groups. However, the Alabama NAACP has called the NAACP's group of leaders "hate groups responsible for systemic and continuing discriminatory campaign and campaign-style violence against black and Hispanic communities" at the state Capitol.

Bower made it clear that his organization was not aware that one of its various groups had ever been at issue in its list of participants.
