The quinceanera tradition
It is a common practice among scholars for practitioners of quinceanera that any non-conformist society, including a government, does not adhere to the sharia system and the law of Islamic law and practice. Some practitioners (such as those of my tribe) have come to believe the law of Islamic law was completely and entirely applied to the Quinceanera, but there is nothing to suggest this is true. Rather than the non-conformist view of the law of sharia, they have been forced to live outside this community entirely, which for them is very restrictive. There's nothing in Islam that says sharia is not possible for non-conformists in the US, and some have even joined the community without seeking to become Muslims.
There's no law of sharia in the Islamic law so many non-conformists may not see that the Quran states that Islam is one law, which is a non-Muslim concept that is used in other parts of Islam in order to be understood by Muslims.
